Dog Licenses

The dog should be over 4 months of age, have current rabies shot (have certificate showing the dates of shot), and proof if the dog has been spayed or neutered. Pursuant to the New York Public Health Law, county public health authorities must offer free clinics at least every four months for the rabies vaccination of dogs, as well as for cats and domesticated ferrets.

If you want to register your dog, please complete the attached application form and bring it in to the Town Hall with a copy of the rabies and spay/neuter certificates.

Article 7 of the Agriculture and Markets Law requires that any person who harbors or keeps a dog, must obtain a dog license in the Town in which they live. Dogs over the age of 4-months must be licensed. A permanent ID tag is issued for the initial dog license. The tag is your dog’s permanent identification number and must be worn at all times.

The following are the requirements for obtaining a dog license in the Town of Marcellus:

  • Rabies certificate
  • Spay or neutering certificate
  • Spay or neutered fee $10.00
  • Non-Spayed or neutered fee $20.00

The Town provides the option of multiple year licensing. The Town Clerk’s Office mails license renewal applications to all dog owners which are payable at the Town Clerk’s Office. If you change your address or if there is a change in the status of the dog, please notify the Town Clerk.
